Don’t Be A Pushover

Don't Be A Pushover

Do you have a tendency to just go with the flow?

You’re out with your friends or on a date or at a family gathering, and you’re overly pleasing – it doesn’t matter what the plan is, you just allow others to pick and choose what to do, where to go.

That’s very nice of you and all, but sometimes you have to ask yourself, “What do I want to do?”

Or do you go with the flow and then end up annoyed because you really didn’t want to do that in the first place?

Well, that isn’t fun is it?

Going out and deciding on a movie to watch or where to eat doesn’t sound like a big deal, but do you do that with the big stuff in your life, too?

Ever heard the phrase, “How you do one thing is how you do everything?”

If you’re constantly a ‘people pleaser’, giving in to other’s lead, or finding it difficult to make choices, even in small areas of your life, you may also be giving away your power in the more important parts of your life — your job, your relationships, your dreams.

The problem with being so agreeable or indecisive is that often your own needs are not met. There should be a healthy balance between getting along well with others, and honoring yourself.

The next time you’re tempted to respond with a “doesn’t matter” or an “I don’t know” or “can’t decide”, stop and ask yourself, “What do I really want?” Answer sincerely and see how it feels, then take action!

Have a great YOU-day!

Stress Release Tip

Sometimes having to make choices can be stressful. Whether it’s a small decision like say “yes” to Mr. Someone or something more, like deciding whether to take that job offer, you find yourself stuck. The next time you find yourself in this situation just place a hand over your heart and take a few breaths. Breathe into that space and tune into what would make your heart happy. Then go with that.

Mindful Moment

If you realize that you have a habit of indecision, take some time this week to really sit with that. Often with the busy-ness of life, we are so rushed and conditioned to act, speak, and choose a certain way that we think is right for us instead of what is in true alignment with who we really are. Take time to be still and get to know you. Be open to some amazing discoveries.

Quote From Dana

“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.”
– Alan Alda
