Meditation Quote 88: “When there are thoughts, it is distraction…” – Ramana Maharshi

Feel like your thoughts are holding you hostage sometimes? You’re not alone.

Think about this for a second: You are not your thoughts.

Do you agree, or not at all?

The way I see it, our thoughts are merely mental constructs that we can either observe and acknowledge, or give great importance and let them control our mood, actions (or inactions) and state.

Devote today to paying attention to your thoughts throughout the day, in a non-judgmental way. Just observe.

Let the thought arise, register it, and let it go. Give it no big importance, and try not to get overly attached to it.

When you do this, coupled with a daily meditation routine, you will also notice that you have less thoughts throughout day, and become less likely to have them throw you off balance.

“When there are thoughts, it is distraction: when there are no thoughts, it is meditation.” – Ramana Maharshi
