5 Ways To Stay On Your Game

5 Ways To Stay On Your Game

Staying on your game is easier than you think, and a lot more fun.

What does it feel like when you’re in the flow?

On a morning when the birds are chirping, the air is crisp, and the sky is a sparking blue.

One of those days when nothing can faze you. There is openness and lightness and ease and grace.

Do you have the feeling yet? Can you summon it at will? Try it.

If today’s not that day, just close your eyes and visualize…. Is that Jimmy Cliff in the background? “It’s gonna be a briiight, briiight, bright sunshiny day!”

This is the feeling of being right as rain. It’s high vibration.

And it’s always accessible. The top of your game is always only a pivot-step away.

Here’s 5 things you can do tune yourself up when there’s a lull in the action:

1. Get Psyched Up

Play your favorite song – LOUD!, go outside and skip down the block, do some jumping jacks, laugh uncontrollably for no apparent reason, make your officemates look over to see what the ruckus is. Get your energy going and the blood flowing.

2. Give Thanks

Gratitude brings happiness, happiness brings a high. What goodness have you seen this week? this month? this year? Shifting our focus from the doldrums to “Ooo, I like that!” shifts so much more than mindset.

3. Show Some Love

Sometimes what we need most comes when we give. Call a friend and tell her how much you appreciate her. Hear how her voice lights up and lifts your spirits too. What goes around comes around!! How lovely.

4. Skip The Coffee For A Day

“Is he crazy?” you might ask. Nothing crazy here – you can avoid the nasty crash by taking a day off. Feel the power of personal confidence (“I didn’t need that jolt of caffeine after all! I’m Superman!”), and the refreshment of better sleep. A self-sustained high has no crash!

5. Have Fun!

When was the last time you played like when you and all the neighborhood kids would get together for a game of hide ‘n seek as the long summer day’s rays tapered off into dusk? “Ollie-ollie-oxen-free!” What freedom awaits you in creating moments like these, now? Yay!

What else can you think of? Respond in a comment with your ideas for getting back into the game, and I’ll put them up in a future article!

It’s all a game. We might as well have fun with it.

Stress Release Tip

Recent research shows that by taking 15 minutes before bed to journal about what you are grateful for has the power to bring you better sleep! Researchers found that gratitude predicted better sleep quality, longer duration of sleep, less sleep latency (the time it takes to fall asleep), and daytime dysfunction. More gratitude = better sleep = less stress. Awesome.

Mindful Moment

What emotion are you feeling right now? Where is it showing up in your body? Let your attention rest there for a little while.

Quote From Adam

“Life is a song – sing it. Life is a game – play it. Life is a challenge – meet it. Life is a dream – realize it. Life is a sacrifice – offer it. Life is love – enjoy it.”
– Sai Baba
