You Call THAT Freedom?

You Call THAT Freedom?

Guess what? Freedom is available to you, today, wherever you are.

Have you ever caught yourself waiting?

Waiting for some free time to read that book you’ve been holding on to?

Waiting to call that friend you’ve been wanting badly to reconnect with?

Waiting for the perfect time to start the project that is your shooting star?

Waiting until next week to schedule date night, or take the kids to do something fun?

Sometimes there are valid reasons for putting off something that we care about. Afterall, there is only so much time in a day.

But more often than not, we don’t even know what we’re waiting for. We might not even be aware that we are waiting.

We’ve convinced ourselves that we don’t have the time to do the things that we’d really like to do because “work comes first.”

Or, we fall into the old “should” trap. You know, “I’d really like to go dancing tonight and have a great time, but I really should clean the floors.”

Over time, with enough of these unconscious rationalizations, we start to lose sight of the things that bring us unbridled joy.

We begin to feel trapped by our circumstances. It starts to feel like we are no longer free to live the life we always wanted.

We always have the freedom to choose, though, don’t we?

When we’re aware of our tendency to put our happiness on the back burner, we can choose differently.

So for today, exercise this freedom. Do something you’ve been putting off. Feel the pressure release.

Feels good, don’t it?

Stress Release Tip

Gratitude Break! If you have little control over your workload, feel like you have no say-so around your workplace, or have difficult coworkers, you may be particularly susceptible to burnout. Offset the tension of the moment by taking a quick break and writing down 10 things that you grateful for RIGHT NOW in your life. Smile knowing that these sweet-somethings are always with you. Repeat as necessary!

Mindful Homework

Mindfulness is about being present to what is happening, here and now. Take a moment to tune in to your body. How are you feeling? Don’t judge it, just notice. What do you hear? What do you see? Take a deep breath in, now out. How much about this moment, using all of your senses, can you take in? Try this for 5 minutes.

Quote From Adam

“Freedom is the right to live as we wish.”
